Project Overview

The Svai Academy installation transforms a large empty building into an immersive educational environment focused on renewable energy technologies and their impact on sustainability and cost efficiency. The walls serve as vast canvases for video projections featuring natural landscapes and renewable energy imagery, enveloping visitors in an evocative atmosphere.
Installation

Within this space, five small white “houses” each host a dedicated interactive installation demonstrating a specific renewable energy technology through innovative user interactions:
Geothermal Energy: Visitors use a torch to “erase” the top video layer on a wall projection, revealing a hidden video underneath illustrating the geothermal pipes beneath the house’s walls. A specialized camera captures only the torch’s reflected light to enable this effect.
Solar Energy: A mirror allows visitors to redirect a spotlight onto the projection, controlling video playback by reflecting the light. This installation employs a camera that reads only the reflected spotlight’s movement to interact with the video.
Heat Pump: A bicycle pump is used to control video playback, turning physical effort into interactive engagement
Position Sensor: A sensor tracks visitors’ movements to control video playback, adding a hands-free interaction mode.
Interactive Touch Screens: Six touchscreen panels offer visitors the ability to configure virtual houses by exploring various renewable energy setups, deepening understanding through direct manipulation
visuals

Graphic style: Clean, minimalistic, with natural imagery and schematic animations that clearly communicate technological processes.
Animation approach: Layered videos combined with responsive visuals that react to visitor interactions, emphasizing cause and effect.
Color palette: Natural greens, blues, and earth tones balanced with crisp whites from the installation structures.
INTERACTION

Diverse physical interfaces (torch, mirror, bicycle pump, sensors, touchscreens) create intuitive and memorable ways for visitors to explore renewable energy concepts.
Technical setup

Multi-camera system designed to detect specific light reflections and physical inputs.
Wall projections synchronized with interactive triggers inside each “house.”
Touchscreens integrated into the environment for user-driven content exploration.
Outcome

The installation provided a multi-sensory, hands-on experience that made complex renewable energy technologies accessible and engaging. By blending physical interaction with rich visual storytelling, it encouraged visitors to explore sustainable solutions in an intuitive and memorable way.
